Beginning by designing a small vodka distillery and tasting room in an existing West Loop concrete loft building, this SGW project ultimately grew in scope to include additional distilling equipment for gin and whiskey, a kitchen to accommodate a chef creating specialty hors d'oeuvres and an expanded seating area.
The client acquired supplementary space in the existing basement for storage and process functions, and the floor was extensively reinforced to account for the immense weight of the distilling equipment and occupancy loads.
SGW highlighted the industrial distilling equipment behind the bar of the tasting room and selected subtlety toned materials with depth of color to compliment and create a dramatic space.
