Design Professional II

We are actively seeking an unlicensed architecture school graduate with 2 or more years professional experience to join our firm.

The Design Professional II will be responsible for preparing and coordinating the production of design and construction documents.

Job Responsibilities:

General

  • Take meeting notes and coordinate the preparation of Minutes and Memos with Project Manager

  • Understand and follow SGW production standards for the preparation and filing of documents and drawings

  • Read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents

  • Participate in office QA/QC procedures

Preliminary/Schematic Design

  • Perform existing site surveys; accurately draft findings for base sheet preparation

  • Lay out floor plan drawings and elevations from hand-sketched or preliminary drawings

  • Provide design support for building and site design, including floor planning, exterior elevations, and perspectives

  • Translate survey documents and civil documents into architectural site plans

  • Perform code study (ICC or local code) relative to life safety requirements, building type, construction type, occupant loads, exiting, and rated wall applications. Interpret land-use regulations and perform basic zoning research such as overlay districts, bulk and density standards, and parking requirements.

 Design Development/Construction Documents

  • Prepare construction documents, including sheet layouts, drawings, and schedules

  • Transpose redlines and other hand-sketched details, sections, and notes to the construction documents

  • Assist with the completion of energy models (COMCheck, RESCheck

Construction Administration

  • Participate in the review of shop drawings and project submittals under the direction of a Project Manager or Project Architect

  •  Assist the Project Manager or Project Architect by providing supporting information for responses to RFI’s

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Architecture or in a related field (construction or engineering)

  • Proficiency with relevant computer programs including: Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp or other 3D Modeling program, Adobe Creative, Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam Revu.

  • Exhibit excellent communication skills.

  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.

  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

  • Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
